*How old do I need to be to join Sylvestrian?

You will need to be at least 16 years of age to be able to use our Fitness Suite. If playing racket sports, any minor will have to be accompanied by an adult.

*Can I trial Sylvestrian before joining?

We encourage everyone to have a tour of our facilities before signing up, to gain a true insight into our Centre. Please download our free ‘Day Pass’ to try out our facilities before joining.

*Will I get a Sylvestrian membership card?

Once you have signed up to become a member, you will be provided with a membership card which will allow you access to our Fitness Suite and other facilities. Please do ensure you bring this card at all times, otherwise you may be refused access if identification cannot be proven.

*Can I freeze my membership?

If you are requesting to freeze your membership, we ask for at least 30 days’ notice before the first day of the month you wish to freeze your membership from.

*How do I cancel my membership?

To cancel your membership, you will need to put your cancellation request in writing; including your name, membership type, membership number and the reason you wish to cancel. Please send this request via email to enquiries@sylvestrian-leisure.co.uk – You will need to provide us
with 30 days’ notice before the first day of the month you wish to cancel your membership from, to avoid being charged for the following month.

*Can I pay for my membership with cash?

Yes, you can purchase your membership using cash. You can choose either to pay for one month at a time, or you can chose to pay for the full year. Please note, memberships paid in cash on a monthly basis incur an additional admin fee.

*During my induction, the fitness instructor stated I need a doctor’s note. Why is that?

If one of our fitness instructors has asked you to supply a doctor’s note before
starting/continuing physical exercise, it could be due to your blood pressure being slightly elevated or due to you informing us of a known medical condition. Once evidence has been provided that you are safe to exercise, then you will be cleared to do so.

*When does the first month’s payment come out of my account?

Our direct debits come out of your account on the first day of each month. If you join the Centre before 14th of the month, your direct debit will start on the first day of the following month. If you join the Centre after 14th of the month, you will be required to make an interim payment, to pay for your membership for the remainder of the current month and the following month. Your direct debit will then commence after that.

*Where can I park at Sylvestrian?

Our secure Leisure Centre car park is open to members of the public from 16:00 – 22:00 Monday to Friday, and from 08:00 – 18:00 at weekends. Outside of these hours, members are required to park at the front of Forest School and come in through the main School Reception for security purposes. When using the Leisure Centre car park, please use the intercom to state that you are using the Centre, and you will be given access through our security gate.

*Can someone show me how to use the equipment?

When joining our Centre, you are asked on your questionnaire if you would like to be inducted in the Fitness Suite. If you would like an induction, please state this by ticking the ‘yes’ box. Alternatively, you can decline this by ticking the ‘no’ box. If you are unsure of how to use any equipment, please ask a member of staff and they will be happy to show you.

*How do I book a class?

You can book onto any class that you wish via our website, over the phone or in person at Reception. Please book early to secure your place and to avoid disappointment.

*Is there CCTV at Sylvestrian?

There are security cameras within our Fitness Studio and within the Leisure Centre in various locations. Our Leisure Centre car park is also fitted with security cameras. At evenings and weekends, there are also security staff on site.

*What do you mean by ‘no contract’?

Here at Sylvestrian Leisure Centre, we do not believe in tying you down into a contract. You will only ever have to pay for one month at a time, and all we ask is that you provide us with at least 30 days’ notice before the first day of the month you wish to cancel your membership from, to avoid being charged for the following month. Simple!
